What is KROPAL?

Kropal is a new Croatian brand used in the areas of building, catering and homes.

Kropal products are made of polymarble which is produced in the plants of MD Centar d.o.o.

Kropal is an artificial material whose basic component is made of crushed stone. Stone fractions are united into a compact unit by special binders.

Its purpose matches the purpose of an architectural-constructional stone while in appearance it resembles natural types of stones. Various imitations of natural types of stones (their structure colours) are obtained by mixing the mass with specially defined types of pigments and with the final treatment of the product.

It is essential to mention that technical characteristics of the KROPAL product are much better than characteristics of natural types of stones, which has been proved by the results of the tests made at IGH d.d. Zagreb.

1. Water absorption (HRN B.B8.010) – Testing Report no: 2752-1746/05 –water absorption is found in the range of 0,142 to 0,169 mas %. Medium value of water absorption is very small. During the winter the material will not freeze of break as it is the case with the natural stone.

2. Spatial mass (HRN B.B8.032) – Testing Report no: 2752-1746/05
- water absorption is found in the range of 1,801 to 1,817 7/m3. According to medium value of the spatial mass, the tested samples are of medium weight. It gives stability during mounting and handling.

3. Resistance to wearing according to BÖHME (HRN B.B8015) – Testing
Report no: 2752-1746/05 - resistance to wearing according to BÖHME ranges from 3,8 to 6,1 cm3/50cm2. According to medium value of resistance to wearing the tested samples are extremely hard. They can be used for floor linings, stair covers, thresholds and similar.

4. Bending strength (HRN B.B8.017) – Testing Report no: 2752 – 1746/05 – bending strength comes in the range from 39,4 to 48,3 MPa. According to the medium value of bending strength, the tested samples are extremely strong to bending. They are very elastic and therefore enable breakage free transport.

5. Frost effects (HRN B.B8.001) – Testing Report no: 2752 – 1746/05
- the tested samples are frost resistant. They will not freeze during winter season.

6. Stability during the use of sodium sulfate (HRN B.B8.02) –Testing Report
no: 2752 – 1746/05 – the mass loss by determination of resistance to crystallization of sodium sulfate ranges from 0,031 to 0,092 mas.%. According to the medium value, the tested samples are resistant to crystallization of sodium sulfate, in other words to the effect of sea water what is extremely important for areas by the sea.

It is necessary to mention that approx. 95% of the raw materials used in the production originate from the Republic of Croatia while the complete production is also perfomed in the Republic of Croatia.
